CNC-USB Controller

Hello,

I have an few questions about the Bie1900 Controller/Driver


  • The integrated Controller is based on the MK1 or the MK2 Version from Planet CNC?
    25 kHz <-> 75 kHz Step Frequency?
  • Does the controller provide a 0-10V output, as spindle speed control on FUs for example?
  • The resolution of 1/8 step is fix or can it changed to other microstep counts?
  • On the pictures the controller part is separated by milled slots. Why?
  • Will the firmware be update able?
  • Does it include the Software-Licence or must these obtain separate?

Thanks for asking.

The interface has the 25kHz chip, so based on Andrej's Mk1.
25kHz at 1/8 microstep proves to be more than sufficient and a good combination.
This setup is providing the needed speeds for normal use with the Zoltar machines.
Ive been testing with 2,5mm pitch (prototype 1) aswell 10mm pitch (prototype 2)
and the accuracy is with both better than 0,1mm.

Smooth running caracteristics:
Ive been tinkering many years now with all kinds of driver-chips and steppermotors up to 1/25 microstep.
This modern 1/8 step driverchip provides about the same smooth running as the Odin Card at 1/25 step from the past.
Smooth running helps to reduce vibrations and irritating noise known from steppermotors getting into the structure.
I feel combined with the CNC-USB controller this is a superb running and suitable combination for this purpose.

0-10V output:
Spindle speed control trough software maybe fun and useful to have as a feature.
Up until now Ive found -with relatively simple 3axis machines using Kress rotarys without toolchangers and such,
I still see no real need for that (as the same for controlling 9 Axis).

Slots:
Well the USB controller section can be removed if a buyer does not wish to use the CNC-USB interface & software.
It even can be replaced in a case it mallfunctions by just taking it out.
Basically it brings some form of  freedom.
This way its custom adaptable for future changes in soft and hardware.

Firmware of the USB section is updated and supported by CNCUSB over the internet

Licence:
The software ID is attached to the chip and so married.
The needed licence is provided with the card when ordered.
Installating of the machine software is free on any PC.
As soon the controller is attached its recognised.

User-purpose build:
This controller and driverboard has been developed to provide users to step into CNC without having too much knowledge about
electronics and steppermotors, and still be able to have all the needed features to control machines like the 2011CL or Plasmacutters.


Its plug and play, fairly priced solution, and still it allows some level of customizing for the future.

The 0-10V Output is surely nothing what is needed, but I think it could be a nice to have in times the HF Spindles are getting cheaper and cheaper.   However this is something which can realized when needed later in many ways.

Which Driver Chips are used on the Board?

Hello Werner,

Maybe 0-10V output would be a helpfull extra.
Looking at what Ive cutup so farI still see no real need for that.

Chips are a part of the recipe of the Cooks creation.....
